Sadly, we must inform you of the recent passing of former player, coach and Sports Dev Officer #RIPJIM

It is with a heavy heart that we share the news of the passing of James 'Jim' McCall last weekend. Jim was activity involved in both the Cricket and Hockey sections for a number of years as both a junior coach and player. Jim also took on the role as TSC Sports Development Officer for a period and worked extensively in local primary schools to develop both cricket and hockey and inspired, and signposted, many primary school pupils to come along and get involved with sport the club.

As coach Jim could be heard on the side of the hockey and cricket pitches sharing encouragement and his own unique insights from the side-lines! Jim inspired so many young players to take up cricket and hockey, his adopted sport, not just at Timperley but also other local clubs including Didsbury and across many local primary schools. The tributes paid to Jim this week give a flavour of the impact he had on so many and how well loved and respected he was and how much joy he gave to so many youngsters getting involved in sport.

Jim worked with Trafford Sports Partnership running the primary schools hockey tournaments held at Timperley and we are working with TSP to finalise a fitting way to recognise Jim’s fantastic contribution to Primary School Hockey in Trafford, including a trophy in Jim's memory.

Jim's funeral will be held on 25th April 2023 at Manchester Cathedral at 10.30am. The service will be around an hour and then immediate family will go to Manchester Crematorium for the cremation service. Details of the wake, final venue and times to be confirmed. The family hope as many people as possible will be able to join them at the cathedral and the wake to celebrate Jim's life.

Our thoughts are with Jane, Lauren and the family. RIP Jim.
